The world’s number one tennis player Novak Djokovic has been listed as the sixth most powerful athlete in the USA. It is a traditional election of the ‘Bloomberg S Sportfolio List’ that includes over 3,000 athletes. The Australian Open champion is on the 6th place of this prestigious list with a 72.93 quota. After him there are athletes such as Kobe Bryant, Michael Phelps, David Beckham and Bolt.
Djokovic improved his standing in relation to 2012 when he was classified nine in view of his power and influence on the American continent. It is interesting that Novak is the second best European in the list since his big rival Roger Federer is classified five. The first in the list is a basketball player L. James.
It is very interesting how the Bloomberg list is being made. It uses the so-called N-balance, a factor that includes sports results at competitions in the USA, their appearance, overall popularity, statistics, value of sponsorship contracts, influence and number of fans on the Facebook and Twitter as well as numerous polls evaluating their brand, image and various other things As further explained an athlete is being evaluated in two segments, a sports one and out-of- sports one. The calculation is made for a period of two years so that there are 80 percent of points from the last year and 20 percent from this year.
Three quarters of the evaluation refer to potential future sponsorship contracts, 15 percent on income from current contracts and 10 percent to presence in social media.
